1600 Tysons Boulevard Receives LEED® Silver Certification

Tysons, Virginia, February 20, 2014 - Lerner Enterprises, one of Washington, D.C.'s largest private real estate developers, is pleased to announce that 1600 Tysons Boulevard, a world-class 13-story 305,000 square foot office tower, has earned Silver Certification under LEED® for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance. The LEED® Certification is awarded by the United States Green Building Council and recognizes excellence in building operating efficiencies and best of practices in sustainability. 1600 Tysons Boulevard is located within The Corporate Office Centre at Tysons II in Tysons, Virginia and is footsteps from Tysons Galleria and the new Tysons Corner Metro Rail Station that will open later this year.

LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification provides independent verification by the United States Green Building Council that a building was designed, built or renovated using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health, such as sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

The 1600 Tysons Boulevard LEED® Certification recognizes Lerner’s focus on implementing green practices in the following areas:

  • Environmentally friendly exterior building site maintenance program
  • Significant reductions in water and energy use
  • Environmentally preferred products and practices for cleaning and alterations
  • Sustainable purchasing policies
  • Comprehensive waste stream and recycling management program
  • Ongoing indoor environmental quality

1600 Tysons Boulevard is home to many prestigious tenants including Holland & Knight, LLP, T. Rowe Price, Arnold & Porter, LLP, among others. The Corporate Office Centre at Tysons II was recently recognized both locally and nationally as a "Best Sites" development as part of the Best Workplaces for Commuters program by the Fairfax County, Virginia Government. The Virginia Office of Cushman & Wakefield is responsible for office leasing within The Corporate Office Centre at Tysons II.

In January, Lerner announced that the company began vertical construction of 1775 Tysons Boulevard, an 18-story 476,000-square foot Class 'A' office tower in The Corporate Office Centre at Tysons II in Tysons, Virginia. The state-of-the-art office tower is registered with the certification goal of LEED® Platinum - the first building within Tysons planned to do so. The building is proposed to deliver in late 2015.
